Palm Sunday—Planting the Garden

The Sunday is Palm Sunday and marks the beginning of Holy Week through Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem.  We will begin our 6:30pm service outside in the front yard and process into our sacred space together.

After our Palm Sunday Liturgy and dinner we will be turning two of the front flower beds into vegetable beds (and no, we are not killing any flowers, but we did move a few).  We won’t exactly become locavores overnight, but the squash and tomatoes will certainly help feed us during our Sunday meals in the fall.  The leftover vegetables will be taken to Trinity Central West End’s food pantry to be distributed. ...

Holy Week Schedule

Holy Week Schedule
Sometime Tuesday we will be painting a banner under the walkway (time tba).  If you are an artist or a good painter or even just want to hang out while other people paint, please stop by and see us!  The banner is to mark our Holy Week schedule and to invite others to join us.
Wednesday- 8:30pm Tenebrae

The name Tenebrae (the Latin word for “darkness” or “shadows”) has for centuries been applied to the ancient monastic night and early morning services (Matins and Lauds) of the last three days of Holy Week, which in medieval times came to be celebrated on the preceding evenings. We celebrate Tenebrae on Wednesday to mark the entry into the Triduum.  The service provides an extended meditation upon, and a prelude to, the events in Jesus’ life between the Last Supper and the Resurrection.
